Queanbeyan's Stephen Peios is one of the voices of the FIFA World Cup

“For as long as he can remember, Stephen Peios has always wanted to be the voice.

Right from his days growing up in Queanbeyan, when he would stay up at all hours of the night to watch wrestling, boxing, mixed martial arts or football in the lounge room, he wanted to be the showman.

But for a long time, he just wasn't sure how. And then one decision changed everything.

It all started with a bucks party, because of course it did. No way was Peios going to jump in as a few "big beasts" wrestled around a hotel room.

Instead, he decided to be a ring announcer a few steps clear of their makeshift ring.

When the dust settled and the room was reassembled, Canberra fighter Ben Edwards threw an arm around Peios and said "mate, you were awesome at that, you should be a ring announcer".
